On February 16th, 2025, a symposium entitled "The Path of Challenges that Change Communities and Society - A gathering of Challengers Using Crowdfunding" (co-hosted by the Organization for People with Universities and the Tokushima University Management Planning Department University Management Planning Division Future Creation Office) was held at the Future Center A.BA on Josanjima Campus, where approximately 40 people including researchers, students and local organizations participated, and Otsucle challengers reported on their results and held a panel discussion.
The crowdfunding site "Otsucle" is celebrating its ninth year since its launch in 2016. For the first time, they held a symposium to bring together challengers who have taken on projects in a variety of fields including research, student projects, government and community activities on Otsucle.
In the results report, Professor Sairyo Koichi of Tokushima University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Department Orthopedics, Vice Director Tagi Masato of Tokushima University Hospital Medical IT Center, Tokushima University “Tori-Ningen” (Birdman) Project, Tokushima University Men's Volleyball Club, Sawakami Opera Foundation, Social Welfare Corporation and Tokushima Prefectural Board of Education, a total of seven groups, took to the stage to look back on the projects they had undertaken on crowdfunding site Otsucle. In addition to an overview of the projects, they also gave presentations on the reactions they had received from the local community and the methods they used to collect donations.
Following the presentations, a panel discussion followed in which there was a lively exchange of opinions between the speakers and the audience.
The speakers commented, "Not only were we able to raise funds, but through crowdfunding we were able to let many people know about our activities," and "Completing the project has given us confidence not only in our activities but also in ourselves."
Through this symposium, they were able to share the results of the project that Otsucle undertook and reaffirm its social significance and contribution to the local community.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated and cooperated.
